Objective

You will be able to conduct data analytics and visualization tasks in a real-world project, using the necessary tools and technologies effectively.
You will gain a solid understanding of project management fundamentals and the skills to create essential project documentation.
Working collaboratively in a team to achieve shared goals will come naturally, as will navigating various project-related situations with confidence.
Additionally, you will develop strong project communication skills to ensure seamless collaboration and success

The project includes 1 ECTS of communication

Location and time

The theoretical introduction to the subject mainly takes place before the ski holiday and the practical project is started after it. Learning mainly takes place on campus according to the timetable. The reviews are carried out via Teams.

Materials

The lecture material (videos) is provided in Moodle, as well as the document templates needed for the practical project.


Teaching methods

First, you will familiarize yourself with the project management online material provided in Moodle and complete the tasks related to the material.

Communications lessons focus on information and public relations and teamwork skills needed in working life and studies. Studies include presentation instructions, work life presentation situations, recruitment documents, recruitment situations

After that, for the practical project, you will be placed in a project group consisting of 3-4 people. Your group will implement a real-world problem-solving project utilizing the basics of project management methods. The learning process includes, for example, guest lectures on the topic, screenings, and guidance sessions. The outputs of the projects will be presented at the joint project exhibition day with all ICT engineering student groups at the end of April.

Completion alternatives

The course can also be completed in a working life project. The method of implementation will be separately agreed in detail with the responsible teacher.

Student workload

The evaluation is based on the student's activity, responsibility and results as an individual as well as at the project group level. The evaluation is continuous, which means that the entire process, not just the end result, is the subject of the evaluation.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

You know how to implement data analytics and visualization tasks supported in a real project without taking the main responsibility for tasks that require problem solving.
You understand the importance of the tools and techniques needed for data analysis and visualization, but are not yet capable of fully applying them.
You know how to work in a project and produce the main project documentation.
You do not usually present constructive solutions that support reaching the goal.
In communication the there is an effort to take the target group into account but the means of illustration are limited or do not indicate expertise.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

You know how to implement data analytics and visualization tasks in a real project.
You demonstrate good competence in applying the tools and techniques needed for data analysis and visualization.
You know the basics of project management and understand the meaning and benefit of their application.
You know how to work in a project and produce the main project documentation.
You know how to work actively in a group, in a constructive spirit, and take others into account in order to achieve a common goal.
You communicate in a professional manner and aim at exemplifying and targeting the message according to the audience.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

You are able to perform data analytics and visualization tasks in a real project in a wide-ranging and versatile manner.
You can demonstrate extensive competence in applying the tools and techniques needed for data analysis and visualization.
You demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a project
You produce main project documentation that is comprehensive, well-structured, accurately detailed, and tailored to meet professional standards (Accuracy and Error-Free Content, Clarity and Comprehensibility, Consistency, Structure and Organization, Professional Tone, Relevance and Completeness, Adherence to Industry Practices and Standards, Visual Professionalism).
You know how to work in a group actively, in a constructive spirit, and consider others in order to achieve a common goal.
You use various channels and means of exemplifying the message in communication and utilize appropriate technical and visual tools in communication.
You communicate in a professional manner and know how to target the message according to the audience.
