Objective

After completion of the course the student is able to
- describe practice-based theorization of strategy
- define new ways of strategy-making to create sustainable businesses.

Execution methods

Teaching profile: HYBRID 1 and 3.

Group work and presentation.
Individual assignment.

Content

Practice-based theorizing, sociomateriality, strategy as practice, subjectivity and participation in strategy, strategy-making for transforming businesses to sustainability and postcapitalist possibities.

Teaching methods

7 * 3 hours = 21 lecture hours
Prework assignments for each lecture.
Active participation in the lectures.
Group work and presentation.
Individual assignment.

Completion alternatives

Lectures and group work during the 1st period (Hybrid 3).

The course can also be completed independently during periods 2–5. The assignment will be available in Moodle at the beginning of the 2nd period.

The independent assignments can be completed in Finnish or in English

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Fail (0): Course content and concepts are not understood. Performance does not follow the assignment. The text is illogical, inconsistent and lacks a central theme.

Sufficient (1): Indicates a poor understanding of the course content. Performance is only marginally consistent with the assignment. May contain misunderstandings that hinder understanding. The text is mainly a reference to lectures and/or other material and does not show much personal reflection.

Satisfactory (2): Shows a reasonable understanding of the course content. There are shortcomings in following the assignment. Emphasis on repetitive description of lectures and/or other material. Some evidence of independent thought and reflection.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3): Shows a good understanding of the course content. The assignment has been largely followed. The text has dealt with the issues in a varied and reflective way. Own thinking is evident. There is less emphasis on the wider picture, linking of issues and application of knowledge.

Very good (4): Demonstrates a good and comprehensive understanding of the course content. Performance corresponds well to the assignment. Own thinking is clearly evident. Performance demonstrates a coherent plot with critical analysis and some new perspectives derived from it.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Excellent (5): Demonstrates a very deep and comprehensive understanding of the course content. Performance is excellent and appropriate to the assignment. Performance demonstrates a coherent plot with critical and insightful analysis, new perspectives and innovative ideas. Own thinking is clearly evident.
