You have adopted the professional identity of a nurse and can work in accordance with the ethical principles of nursing, current legislation, and information guidance.
You can safely and reliably plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based nursing.

Teaching methods

Guided practice.
The students, set their own personal goals for learning, and perform continuous self-assessment.
Students use eWorkbook / Workseed in their practical training.
The Medication passport supports pharmacotherapy studies.
All other courses and practical trainings must be completed before the beginning of the Guided Practice in Evidence-based Nursing.
Nurse's Core Competences (180 ECTS) National Exam (Theory and Calculation) must be passed before the beginning of the Guided Practice in Evidence-based Nursing.

The working time of the students in guided practice is 38 hours and 45 minutes/week for 10 weeks. The working shifts of the whole guided practice period are planned on the schedule. The working hours which occur on holidays during the weekdays (on the so called the flexible holidays) have to compensate. Sickness absences must always be notified as soon as possible both to the guided practice unit and to the senior lecturer in charge of the guided practice. The replacement/compensation for the absences are to be negotiated with the clinical supervisor and the senior lecturer in charge of the guided practice.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass

· You have adopted the professional identity of a nurse and you know how to work in accordance with the ethical principles of nursing, current legislation and information guidance.
· You can safely and reliably plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based nursing.
· You have the competence to make clinical decisions based on evidence.
· You understand the importance of evidence-based recommendations and consistent practices in patient care and you are able to apply them in nursing.
· You are able to respond to the patient's needs in accordance with the nursing process in collaboration with the patient, relatives, and other social and health care professionals.
· You can use the nursing care process to document a patient's nursing care; assess the patient's need for nursing (care), plan and implement care, evaluate the outcome of care, and produce a summary of nursing care.
· You can evaluate, monitor and document the results of a unified nursing practice.
· You can ensure the quality of nursing as a member of the work community.
· You can motivate and guide members of the work community and give and receive feedback.

Fail

· You lack the professional identity of a nurse or know how to work in accordance with the ethical principles of nursing, current legislation and information guidance.
· You cannot plan, implement or evaluate evidence-based nursing work safely and reliably.
· You are unable to make clinical decisions based on evidence.
· You do not understand the importance of evidence-based recommendations and consistent practices in patient care nor do you know how to apply them in nursing work.
· You are unable to respond to the patient's needs in accordance with the nursing process in collaboration with the patient, relatives and other social and health care professionals.
· You cannot use the nursing process to document a patient's care; you fail to be able to assess the patient's need for nursing (care), plan and implement care and evaluate the outcome of care and produce a summary of nursing.
· You cannot evaluate, monitor or document the results of a consistent nursing practice.
· You are not able to ensure the quality of nursing as a member of the work community.
· You are not able to motivate and guide members of the work community and give and receive feedback.
