Objective

After completing this study unit: 

- You recognize readiness, competences and traits needed in entrepreneurship, you recognize your own strengths and take them into account in planning an entrepreneurship path, business idea and in generating an idea in sports business 

- You know the business environment in sports and you recognize business opportunities within the environment by also taking into account responsibility and sustainable development  

- You recognize different forms and models of entrepreneurship and business  

- You know the main business operations and recognize their interconnection 

- You know and can apply the basics of business and business planning

Content

Theme 1: As an entrepreneur in sports business.
The readiness, traits, own strengths, self-efficacy, entrepreneur competence, entrepreneurship tests, entrepreneurship as a career option 

 
Theme 2: Entrepreneurship and doing business in sports 
The business environment of sports, business idea and generating an idea, megatrends, weak signals, business opportunities in sports, responsibility and sustainable development  


Theme 3: Business planning 
Different forms and models of entrepreneurship and business, basic business processes and their interconnection (financial management, marketing, sales, HRM and law), principles of business planning, business planning tools 

Location and time

Fall 2025 weeks 40-45.

Materials

Will be given in the beginning of the study unit in the implementation plan. 

Teaching methods

Lectures, workshops, independent studies, group work, participation in a conference, presentations.

Employer connections

Participation in a conference.
Possible visitor from business life.

Exam schedules

Sales pitch presentations on week 45

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Level 1
As an entrepreneur in sports business:
You are able to name competences and traits needed in entrepreneurship.  You recognize and can list your own strengths and take them into account in planning an entrepreneurship path and in generating business ideas and planning business. 
Entrepreneurship and doing business in sports:
You are able to name factors within the the business environment of sports. You recognize business opportunities offered by the environment by taking into account responsibility and sustainable development. 
Business planning:
You are able to name different forms and models of entrepreneurship.  
You are able to name main business processes and you recognize their interconnection.  
You know and are able to apply the principles of business planning by using business planning tools. 

Level 2
As an entrepreneur in sports business:
You are able to describe competences and traits needed in entrepreneurship.  You are able to describe your own strengths and take them into accoun in planning an entrepreneurship path and in generating business ideas and planning business. 
Entrepreneurship and doing business in sports:
You are able to describe factors within the business environment of sports. You recognize business opportunities by utilizing megatrends, weak signals and by taking into account responsibility and sustainable development.
Business planning:
You are able to describe different forms and models of entrepreneurship. 
You are able to describe main business processes and you know their interconnection. 
You know and are able to apply the principles of business planning by using business planning tools. 

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Level 3
As an entrepreneur in sports business:
You are able to reflect competences and traits needed in entrepreneurship to your own compentences and traits.  
You are able to utilize your strengths in planning an entrepreneurship path and in generating business ideas and planning business.
Entrepreneurship and doing business in sports:
You have an understanding of the business environment of sports. You know business opportunities by utilizing megatrends, weak signals and by taking into account responsibility and sustainable development.
Business planning:
You are able to describe different forms and models of entrepreneurship and you understand differences in them. 
You know and are able to apply the principles of business planning by using business planning tools. 

Level 4
As an entrepreneur in sports business:
You are able to  reflect competences and traits needed in entrepreneurship to your own compentences and traits and you are able to identify the needs for development. 
You are able to utilize with justifications your strengths in planning an entrepreneurship path and in generating business ideas and planning business. 
Entrepreneurship and doing business in sports:
You have a command of the business environment of sports and you utilize the business opportunities offered by the environment. You understand the meaning of responsibility and sustainable development in business.  
Business planning:
You understand the meaning different forms and models of entrepreneurship in business planning.  
You understand the key business processes and their interconnection.  You are able to analyze the results of business planning.  

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Level 5
As an entrepreneur in sports business:
You are able to reflect and analyze competences, traits and strengths needed in entrepreneurship to your own competences, traits and strengths.  
You understand the meaning of strengths in planning an entrepreneurship path and in generating business ideas and planning business.  
Entrepreneurship and doing business in sports:
You have a command of the business environment of sports as a whole and you utilize the business opportunities offered by the environment. You are able to critically analyzing the business opportunities.  
Business planning:
You have a command of the meaning of different forms and models of entrepreneurship in business planning. 
You have a command of the key business processes and their interconnection. 
You are able to reflect and analyze the results of business planning.

KÄYTTÄJÄTUNNUKSET
Saat käyttäjätunnuksia koskevan sähköpostiviestin IT-käyttäjähallinnosta noin viikkoa ennen opintojen alkua. Aktivointi tapahtuu henkilökohtaisilla verkkopankkitunnuksilla tai mobiilivarmenteella. Seuraa myös sähköpostisi roskapostikansiota. Viesti voi mennä roskapostiin.

OPISKELU
Opiskelu edellyttää aktiivista osallistumista. Yksi opintopiste vastaa noin 27 tuntia opiskelijan työtä. Opintojen suoritusvaatimukset ovat avoimen AMKin opiskelijoille samat kuin tutkinto-opiskelijoille.
Opiskelijalla tulee olla oma (kannettava) tietokone.
