Objective

This course emphasizes the importance of communicative competence as part of students’ expertise. The course will focus on developing skills and strategies for negotiation and problem solving, collaborative teamwork and intercultural communication.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student
1) is able to make conscious choices about applying communication strategies in different academic and professional contexts.
2) is able to collaborate in groups, negotiate to solve problems, and present ideas and information clearly and concisely.
3) is able to give and receive constructive feedback.
4) is able to consider the effect of culture in communication situations.
5) has acquired resources for the ongoing learning of communication skills and spoken English.

Execution methods

Group-oriented learning, independent work.

Accomplishment methods

Active participation, required attendance, successful completion of the course assignments.

Content

Students will have an opportunity to develop academic communication skills, field-specific vocabulary and confidence through focused pair and small-group activities.

Teaching methods

The course is in Moodle and you can work at your own pace, however, you must return the Tasks on time.
The work and Tasks for 0710/0711 will be given on specific dates.
Students check Moodle on specific dates at 08.00 to find the guidelines and deadlines for the Tasks to be completed.
There are no online meetings in Moodle for 0710 Reading /0711 Oral skills, but an individual Zoom meeting can be arranged if requested by a student or the teacher.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass/fail based on completion of the tasks, active participation, and meeting the required attendance.

Qualifications

Students should have completed at least one year of study in Law to provide them with necessary conceptual foundation for comparing legal systems.
