Objective

After completing the course the student
• understands the basic objectives and activities of contract management.
• has gained basic understanding of contract managers' work regarding the management of customer and supplier relationships, basic understanding of risk management around risks and
opportunities, contractual obligations, contract changes, claims, and information flow.
• has developed his/her knowledge and skills and acquired competences that he/she will be able to apply to contracting in practice.

Accomplishment methods

Three days of intensive ONLINE teaching.

A pre-course case study exercise will be made available to students 2 weeks prior to the course via Moodle. Students are required to prepare an individual response to the case study exercise, in English, and submit it to the course’s Moodle page a few days before the beginning of the course (typically, the Thursday before the course starts).

Assessment criteria: the pre-course case study exercise (20 % of the final grade), active participation in classroom work (40 % of the final grade) and a multiple choice test (40 % of the final grade).

Content

• An introduction to contract management
• Basic objectives and activities of contract management and contract managers' work during a contract's lifecycle
Participation in ONLINE, group exercises, independent work, multiple choice test.

Location and time

Three days of intensive ONLINE teaching.

Students are required to prepare an individual response to the case study exercise, in English, and submit it to the course’s Moodle page a few days before the beginning of the course (typically, the Thursday before the course starts).

Assessment criteria: the pre-course case study exercise (20 % of the final grade), active participation in classroom work (40 % of the final grade) and a multiple choice test (40 % of the final grade).

Participation is limited to a total of 30 students. 20 places are reserved for Faculty of Law students (including exchange student), 10 places for the University of Oulu project management students (including exchange students).

Materials

All study materials are to be found in Moodle by the beginning of contact teaching.


Qualifications

Basic studies in commercial and contract law and/or in supply chain management are recommended as previous studies.
