Objective

Having completed this study unit (Objective skills level is A1.1 - A1.2 (CEFR).)

• You develop basic oral and written communication skills and familiarize with the main aspects of Finnish culture.
• You get basic skills in Finnish for simple communication situations in everyday life.
• You can introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details, such as where they live, people they know, and things they have.
• You can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Exam schedules

The final exam includes written and spoken tests that are arranged in Moodle and in Zoom.

Completion alternatives

If the student already has Finnish skills on at least level A1 (CEFR), we recommend continuing to learn Finnish on a more advanced level. Please contact the teacher.

Student workload

contact lessons approximately 4 hours of Finnish per week
9100 hrs independent stuyding in Moodle and using the digital book according to the weekly plan, including preparation for the final exam

Grade 0
Student
· does not reach the objectives of the study unit or does not complete or pass the compulsory assignments

Grade 1
Student
· knows a few very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type
· can briefly introduce him/herself

Grade 2
Student
· recognizes some very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type
· can briefly introduce him/herself
· can react to some very basic and clearly expressed questions about personal details such as where he/she lives

Grade 3
Student
· recognizes some familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type
· can briefly introduce him/herself and others
· can ask and answer some questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows, and things he/she has with assistance

· can understand and use some familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type
