Objective

Competence goals

You are able to treat surgical patients of different ages as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
You are able to comprehensively define treatment needs of the patient or client and plan, implement, and evaluate the treatment together with the patient, his or her relatives, and those involved in the treatment process.
You can guide and support the patient and their loved ones proactively, professionally and by promoting health.
You are able to report orally and in writing, and you can act aseptically and in accordance with the principles of infection control.
Under supervision, you are able to participate in the examinations of surgical patients, their nursing care and medication.
You are able to explain the rationale behind the related nursing interventions.
You work in accordance with the principles of patient safety and occupational safety.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Pass

● You can treat surgical patients of different ages as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
● You are able to define the needs of patient care holistically. You are able to plan, implement and evaluate treatment together with the patient and his or her relatives and those involved in the treatment process.
● You can guide and support the patient and their loved ones proactively, professionally, and by promoting health.
● You can report orally and in writing and act aseptically and in accordance with principles of infection control.
● Under guidance, you are able to participate in the examinations of a surgical patient , their nursing and medication, and explain the rationale behind the interventions.
● You can work in accordance with the principles of patient safety and occupational safety.

Fail
• You are not able to treat surgical patients of different ages as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• You are not able to comprehensively define the patient’s treatment needs. You do not have the competence to plan, implement and evaluate treatment together with the patient and his or her relatives and those involved in the treatment process.
• You do not have the competence and skills to guide and support the patient and their loved ones proactively, professionally, and by promoting health.
• You are unable to report orally and in writing and you fail to act aseptically and in accordance with the principles of infection control.
• You are unable, under supervision, to participate in the examinations of a surgical patient, their nursing and medication. You are not able to explain the rationale behind the interventions.
• You lack the competence to work in accordance with the principles of patient safety and occupational safety.
