Objective

After this study unit you will know:
• illustrates the importance of sustainability and environmental education from a global perspective,
• utilizes nature education methods for different target groups,
• uses the basic skills of safe movement in nature in a group,
• uses information about nature's effect on human health, performance and well-being in different forms of nature exercise.

Content

Theme 1. Nature education: Nature education methods, sustainability education, relationship with nature.

Theme 2. Nature exercise: camping and wilderness skills, orienteering, nature's health and well-being effects and forms of nature exercise.

Register by 1.8.2024 for the delivery method of your choice.

The 10-credit package requires participation in the upcoming weeks.
The 5-credit unit can be completed independently via online learning.

The societal importance of nature education:
Describe social sustainability issues and theories of nature education, identifying some links when designing activities for different target groups.

Steering process of nature-based sports and nature education:
Identify the objectives of nature sport or nature education when planning individual or group activities.
You make informed choices in relation to the physical safety of the group and with regard to sustainability.

Level 2
The societal relevance of nature education:
You illustrate the relevance of theories of nature education to society in relation to sustainability when planning activities for different target groups.

The steering process of nature-based sports and nature education:
You will describe the objectives of nature sport or nature education in a client-oriented way when planning individual or group activities.
You choose ways to develop the psychological safety of the group.

Level 3
The societal relevance of nature education:
You explain societal problems and choose ways to influence them from nature education theories and practices.

The process of guiding nature-based sports and nature education:
When implementing nature sport or nature education, you describe individual and group objectives in relation to your target group.
You will choose ways to develop the psychological safety of the group and the individual.

Level 4
The social relevance of nature education:
You will illustrate global sustainability challenges and choose ways of applying nature education theories to suit different target groups.

The process of guiding nature-based sports and nature education:
When carrying out nature sport or nature education, you will interpret the achievement of objectives and reflect on your activities.
You will illustrate ways to promote psychological safety for groups and individuals and make observations on the level of safety.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Level 5
The societal importance of nature education:
You will find solutions to problems related to global and social sustainability by interpreting theories of nature education from the perspectives of different target groups.

The process of guiding nature movement and nature education:
When implementing nature sport or nature education, you interpret the achievement of objectives and adapt your activities based on reflection.
You illustrate your solutions to develop psychological safety for the group and the individual and modify your actions based on reflection.
