Objective

Having completed this study unit,

- You can understand the basics of the sport industry.
- You gain an understanding of management methodologies used in the sports industry.
- You develop an understanding and importance of partnership development and the benefits to the sports industry.
- You investigate the sports industry and research real life case studies regarding management and partnership development.

Content

Theme 1. Understand the growth of the Sports Industry.
Theme 2. An introduction to a selection of management methodologies in the sports industry.
Theme 3. Dismantle the elements that make up sport management and analyse good practice exchange and lessons learned.
Theme 4. Investigate case studies of sport management practices over a variety of events and sporting organisations.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Level 1
Sports Industry:
You have a basic understanding of the sports industry. The student displays a basic coverage for the required level but shows an attempt to address the subject. Significant gaps and errors but include >40% of the expected factual content.

Level 2
Sports Industry:
You demonstrate an understanding of the sports industry. There may be gaps not developed at the appropriate level, but the overall standard of understanding is satisfactory.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Level 3
Sports Industry:
You can describe the sports industry confidently and management methodologies. Good understanding of the material with coverage at the appropriate level. Some aspects may not be covered but this would be compensated by the overall quality.

Level 4
Sports Industry:
You have a comprehensive understanding of the sport industry and management methodologies. Excellent coverage of the topic, focusing precisely on the set question. The students understanding is articulated such that it contributes to the reader’s understanding. Depth and breadth of content is very good

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Level 5
Sports Industry:
You have a comprehensive understanding of the key principles, role of the sports industry and management methodologies.
Evidence of understanding is outstanding and completely demonstrates understanding of the topics covered. Depth and breadth of content is excellent.
