Objective
Note: This course may be taken only after successful completion of XICP0211 Introduction to Intercultural Communication or a similar course.
After successful completion, participants are able to describe their own culture in the objective, comparative terminology of the models in question. They are able to flesh out this comparative picture of their culture with observations about its historic development and its everyday realities.
Execution methods
Self-study. Two students of the same cultural background may, but do not have to, cooperate in this course.

Written assignment, ca. 10 pages. Detailed instructions will be sent after registration.
The course should be completed within one period.
Content
Participants acquaint themselves with Fons Trompenaars’ & Charles Hampden-Turner’s Cultural Dimensions Model and the World Values Survey’s paradigm. They use the models’ findings to produce a comparative picture of their own culture in a global context. They then discuss the realities encountered within their culture using the categories offered by these models.
