Objective
As a member of the Russian Culture Club, the student will receive wide-ranging information on Russian culture and society, including literature, fine arts, music, cinematography, traditions, geography, religions, business and political culture, education, and will be able to understand the life in today's Russia. This course is intended for students who study Russian language and culture on different levels at the University of Lapland. The Culture Club is also meant for exchange students who are interested in Russian culture.
Execution methods
Lectures and presentations, 36 h. The Culture Club meetings are held in a warm international athmosphere.
Accomplishment methods
Regular attendance, active participation in discussions. Learning journal in English.
The Russian Culture Club can partly substitute for the culture course XVEN0225 Venäjän kulttuuri ja maantuntemus.
Content
Individual and pair presentations according to the course program. Watching and analysing films and documentaries. Getting acquainted with the Russian language through simple sentences and phrases.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
5-1/fail based on the final learning journal and class participation.
Qualifications
No previous studies.
Further information
The first meeting will be held on 09 September at 14.00-16.00. The suitable schedule for the academic year will be made together at the first meeting.
If you miss the first class session and have not discussed your absence with the teacher, your place can be given to the first person on the waiting list.
