Objective

The course provides the student with an opportunity to recognize the discursive structures commonly used in academic and professional settings in the field of law and to apply these in his/her own writing.

Upon successful completion of the course the student should be able to
1) write clear, reasonably fluent texts in English relatively free from mechanical errors
2) write as a process, with attention to collaborative writing techniques and peer assessment.

Execution methods

Active participation in class, peer assessments. Exercises 30 h.

Accomplishment methods

Regular attendance, class participation and successful completion of the writing assignments.

Content

The course will consist of assignments practicing the relevant genres as well as work on structures and vocabulary as necessary. Methodologically, the emphasis will lie on writing as a process, with due attention paid to collaborative writing techniques and peer assessment.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Pass/fail, based on class participation, completion of and progress in the writing assignments.
