Objective

Upon successful completion of the course the students will
1) be familiar with research of cultural values and systems of classification
2) have an understanding of culture-related aspects of conflict.

Lectures and group work 30 h and a written assignment.

Active participation in lectures and a written assignment.

Content

This course focuses on two particular aspects of cultural communication: differences in, and classification of, underlying values at the heart of all cultural phenomena, and cultural conflicts. A short repetition of the most widely used models of classification for cultural differences is included at the beginning, so the course may be completed successfully without taking XICP0211 Introduction to Intercultural Communication, first.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

5-1/fail

Qualifications

XICP0211 Introduction to Intercultural Communication is recommended. However, it is possible to participate and successfully complete this course without taking the introduction course first.
