Objective
The course is designed as an introduction to pedagogical thinking and instrumental teaching, serving as a continuation of the course unit 1. The student is familiar with the basic principles of ethical conduct for teachers. They take into account the diversity of learning processes among different learners in their activities. The student is aware of the significance of emotional skills in teaching and learning.
Content
The course is a continuation of the course unit 1. Who is the course intended for? • The course can be completed through the Open University of Applied Sciences by any musician, music pedagogue, upper secondary student or music enthusiast interested in the subject. • By completing the course, one can fulfil the mandatory first-year spring pedagogy study module in instrument and vocal principal studies of Metropolia’s Music degree programme. Content: teacher ethics, emotional skills in teaching, diversity in teaching and learning.
Qualifications
Previous pedagogical competence is not required, but professional or several years of experience in playing an instrument or singing is a prerequisite for some modules.
