Objective
After completing this course, the doctoral researcher is able to:
- critically evaluate the philosophical foundations, argumentation, and research methods of one’s own research
- identify and address the ethical issues and responsibilities in one’s research
- reflect on the nature of knowledge, truth, and existence within the context of one’s own research
- critically assess the reliability of one’s own research
Content
The course delves into the philosophical and methodological foundations of scientific research, as well as argumentation. It provides tools for the critical analysis and development of one's own research. The course also addresses ethical perspectives in research and the responsibilities of the researcher.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Pass
The doctoral researcher recognizes the philosophical foundations of research and is able to construct basic arguments and assess their validity in their own study.
Fail
The doctoral researcher does not demonstrate sufficient understanding of research philosophy and is unable to construct or evaluate arguments coherently.
