Objective

After successful completion of the course, the doctoral researchers will be able to:
- understand the theoretical foundations of service design
- apply service design thinking and relevant research literature into their own research case.

Content

The purpose of the course is to familiarize the participants with multidisciplinary research on service design. It is based on design research and service design research. The readings included in the course introduce the areas of history of design research, design studies, social design, participatory/co-design and constructive design research, as well as the history of design research methodologies and, in particular, the research through design approach.

Qualifications

The course is organised for doctoral researchers at the University of Lapland, in the doctoral programme The Arctic in a Changing World. Doctoral researchers from the discipline-specific programme may also participate if there are places.
