Objective

Purpose of the course The purpose of the course is to increase your understanding of the principles of health and well-being promotion. In addition, the purpose is for you to understand the importance of systematic planning and evaluation in promoting population health, as part of the health and well-being promotion activities of public, private and third sector actors. Course competencies: Proactive development (You know how to lead the development of new, future-oriented solutions and produce new information using various research and development methods) Learning to learn (You promote your own and your work community's continuous learning and development of expertise by utilizing knowledge from different fields and the opportunities of digitalization) Sustainable development (You develop sustainable and responsible practices in your work and support sustainable change in your work community and society) Course objectives: After completing the course, you will be able to apply health promotion models and approaches in the development, coordination, planning and evaluation of health promotion activities of individuals and communities, as well as public, private and third sector organizations, taking into account the perspective of sustainable development.

Content

You will learn to utilize evidence-based health promotion planning and evaluation models as part of the evaluation and development of health promotion programs and interventions. In the course, you will learn to identify the determinants of health that affect individual and population health, such as socioeconomic status, environmental conditions and lifestyles. You will learn to understand how, by considering the determinants of health, we can develop more effective health promotion strategies. You will learn to recognize health inequalities and differences in health status between different population groups that are due to social, economic and environmental factors. You will also learn to recognize the levels of health promotion activity (individual, community and society) and to plan effective and comprehensive measures for health promotion.

Teaching methods

On-line course. Moodle as an online learning platform. Webinars at Zoom. This course includes webinars and guided independent studying. Webinars: pre-assignments, group work, peer discussion, lectures. Partly flipped learning. Independent study contain: learning materials, learning assignments and written learning assignment (individual) and presentation (PechaKucha), written self-assessment.
