Objective
After completing the course, you will be able to model 3D constructs and create assemblies from them. You will be able to effectively use the features of a drawing-based 3D modelling program and understand the logic of modelling.
Content
1. Chamfers and fillets in a 3D model 2. Drafted features 3. Pattern of features 4. Ribs 5. Using the 3D sketch tool for modelling 6. Loft, Sweep and Shell commands 7. Modelling machine parts - Springs - Threads - Gears

The course begins on 12 January 2026 and ends on 31 December 2026.

Exam schedules
You can choose the exam date from the following options: Exam submission deadline: March 15, 2026 Exam submission deadline: May 24, 2026 Exam submission deadline: September 1, 2026 Exam submission deadline: October 18, 2026 Exam submission deadline: November 30, 2026 (final assessment. After this date, exam submissions will not be accepted.) You may attempt the exam three (3) times. The highest grade will be recorded. If you have not completed the exam by the final submission date (November 30, 2026) or have received a failing grade, you can still obtain a passing grade (grade 1) if you have completed at least 50% of the assignments. Metropolia reserves the right to make changes to the assessment criteria if necessary.
Student workload
Course: 3 ECTS credits. 1 ECTS credit equals 27 hours of student work. A total of 81 hours must be allocated for completing the studies.
