Student: - understands the basics of picture communication - understands the role of the picture communication as part of linguistic accessibility - learns the place of picture communication as part a of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) - understands the concept of iconity - looks up online material, literature and research on image communication

Opintojakso toteutetaan Humakin verkko-oppimisympäristössä itsenäisesti.

Content

The course covers the basics of picture communication, and at the beginning of the course you will also be briefly introduced to the wider field of communication support methods. The content of the picture communication studies includes the different functions of the picture, the different types of pictures and the materials used in picture communication. The course will also provide an orientation to visual communication in general and its advantages. The course includes independent exercises.

Kurssin oppimateriaalit ovat verkosta löytyviä artikkeleja, kuvapankkeja sekä muita verkkoaineistoja, jotka käsittelevät kuvakommunikointia eri näkökulmista.

Teaching methods

Opintojakson oppimisympäristönä on Humakin Hoodle-ympäristö. Opintojakso suoritetaan itsenäisesti. Opintojakson tarkempi toteutus (tehtävät, sisällöt, kirjallisuus, arviointi, palautuspäivät) esitellään opintojakson Hoodlessa, joka avautuu ennen kuin jakso alkaa.

Opintojaksolla ei ole tenttiä, mutta jaksoon kuuluu palautettavia tehtäviä

Student workload

Opintojakso on viiden opintopisteen laajuinen, mikä tarkoittaa 135 tuntia opiskelua.

Qualifications

Opintojaksolle ei vaadita aiempia opintoja. Opintojakso soveltuu hyvin myös kuvakommunikointia jo aiemmin käyttäneille ammattilaisille, joilla ei ole teoriatietoa kuvasta kommunikointia tukevana menetelmänä.
