Objective

On completion of the course, students: - know how to guide and support mothers and families in breastfeeding in a variety of ways - understand breastfeeding support as a multidisciplinary, multidimensional and cultural phenomenon that requires collaboration with experts in different fields - can act as an advocate for breastfeeding and promote a breastfeeding-friendly society

Would you like to know about breastfeeding practices and the benefits of breastfeeding? Would you like to deepen your knowledge of the importance of breastfeeding, the cultural aspects of breastfeeding and how to promote it with evidence-based information? Join this e-learning course, open to all, which will broaden your understanding of breastfeeding promotion and enable you to become a breastfeeding counsellor. Key content: - breastfeeding promotion programmes and breastfeeding recommendations - health, economic and sustainable development aspects of breastfeeding - promotion of breastfeeding from the perspective of different social and health professional groups - factors influencing milk secretion and the maintenance of secretion - observation and guidance of breastfeeding situations

The learning materials of the course are announced in the learning environment.

Teaching methods

The course is studied online in the Moodle learning environment. You can study the course independently at your own pace during the implementation period 1.9.2025 – 31.5.2026. The study includes familiarization with the materials and learning tasks. The course assignments must be completed by 31.5.2026 at the latest. The teacher assesses assignments and marks grades in the study register at the end of every month.
