Objective

The aim of the elective study unit is to give the student an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of Arctic World Politics based on his/her own study interests. After completion of the course the student is able to
- study, analyse and engage Arctic World Politics from a perspective of his/her own choosing
- identify relevant concepts, tools, theories or methods and apply them consistently
- locate the chosen field of specialisation within, and in relation to, the broader field of Arctic World Politics.

Content

The study unit accommodates different courses and units that are available for MA degree students at the University of Lapland, not yet included in the formal Arctic World Politics study plan. Possible units include units chosen from other degree programmes available at the University of Lapland, open online courses, exchange-studies in other universities, summer schools, or study credits gained from participation in open lectures and seminars. In addition, it is also possible to include work practice or professional training under this unit. The unit/s must be chosen by the student and approved by the teacher responsible for the Arctic World Politics thesis seminar.
