Objective

Multicultural Tourism and Hospitality
Multidimensional Hospitality (theme)
The student can interact in simple everyday situations in Finnish provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help. He/she can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases.
Must know

- Finnish pronunciation

- introduce oneself and others

- ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics

- understand familiar words and very basic phrases when people speak slowly and clearly

- understand familiar names, words and very simple sentences in written

- react to basic greeting and leave-taking expressions

- grammar: personal pronouns and verb conjugation in present tense, question words, nominative and partitive cases, to have/to have not

Should know

- interact in simple everyday situations: asking and giving simple advice

- write short, simple texts and messages

- fill in simple forms with personal details

- grammar: genitive, basics of local cases, kpt-change in verbs and nouns

Nice to know

- Finnish communication style & some cultural features

Location and time

This study unit will be implemented as VVV30-3002 Finnish 1 5 - 5 op. Please enroll to that study unit.

Please do not enroll to Finnish for International Tourism Students 1.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Please note that there might be more specific assessment criteria for learning assignments which will be given at the beginning of the study unit.

Fail (0)
The student does not complete the assignments according to instructions or does not attend the learning situations at all. He/she does not pass the assignments and/or the exam as required.

Poor (1)
The student can introduce him-/herself and answer questions about personal details in Finnish with strong assistance. The student is able to interact in the simplest everyday situations with strong assistance in Finnish.

Satisfactory (2)
The student can introduce him-/herself and answer questions about personal details in Finnish with assistance. The student is able to interact in simple everyday situations with assistance in Finnish.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3)
The student can introduce him-/herself as well as ask and answer questions about personal details in Finnish. The student is able to interact in simple everyday situations with some assistance in Finnish.

Very good (4)
The student can introduce him-/herself as well as ask and answer questions about personal details in Finnish. The student is able to interact in simple everyday situations in Finnish.

Excellent (5)
