Objective

1. Tutoring (campus and online)
You can introduce students to the study environment and community, the practices of the university of applied sciences and Finnish culture. You can plan, implement and offer peer support activities. You know the principles of peer counselling. You understand the objectives and responsibilities of tutoring, you have teamwork skills and know how to act responsibly.

2. Student ambassador/marketing tutoring
You know the educational offerings of Lapland University of Applied Sciences and you are able to present the offerings of Lapland University of Applied Sciences in various representation situations, events and social media channels. You understand the objectives and responsibilities of marketing the educational institution, have teamwork skills and know how to act responsibly as a student ambassador. You will also learn about marketing, social media, content production and storytelling with up-to-date information.

3. Peer mentoring
You will be able to work in a peer mentoring programme to support your fellow students and provide peer support in matters related to your studies.Understand the objectives of peer mentoring and be able to take into account the individual needs of the mentoree.You are aware of the responsibilities and obligations of confidentiality.

4. Student union/student association activities
In your work, you are able both to take into account the diversity of students studying at Lapland University of Applied Sciences and to promote equality, inclusion and accessibility. You understand the structures of the higher education community and the effects of decision-making on students, and you actively promote students' interests and community spirit.

5. Other student involvement
You will work as an experience expert in different teams, workshops, quality work. You can provide information and guidance on related issues. You will have good teamwork skills and be able to manage your own work. You are able to act responsibly in the tasks assigned and know the responsibilities of the task. 

Content

1. Tutoring

A campus tutor is a peer counsellor on campus who introduces to the UAS and to the practices of studying, supports group bonding and helps get to know the campus community. They act as peer mentors for students on campus and support students' well-being and sense of community.
An online tutor is an online peer mentor. They are familiar with universitys online activities and learning environments. The online tutor guides students on the practices of the UAS and studying and supports students' well-being and community online.

2. Student ambassador/marketing tutoring

The student ambassador knows the objectives of the marketing of Lapland University of Applied Sciences and is able to represent Lapland University of Applied Sciences in various marketing events and channels as an experience expert. The purpose of marketing is to raise the profile of UAS and to recruit new students to the UAS through various events and channels. The Student Ambassador carries out marketing activities locally or nationally according to instructions and assignments from the staff of UAS. Depending on your own interests, you can deepen your knowledge of content marketing in social media.

3. Peer mentoring

A peer mentor supports a student who needs support with his or her studies. The peer mentor strengthens the mentored student's attachment to his/her studies and the study community. Mentoring takes place in one-to-one meetings between the mentor and the mentee. The mentoring is defined on the basis of the needs of the mentee and the goal of the mentoring is defined jointly. The objectives of the joint activity may be related to returning to studies, studying together, learning about services or the rhythm of studies, for example. Mentoring is targeted at students whose ability to study and academic performance is affected by the challenges of coping with and managing their studies.

4. Student union/student association activities

The student serves on the board of the Lapland University of Applied Sciences Student Union ROTKO and/or on the board of a local student association at the University of Applied Sciences. They implement the current action plan of the student union and/or student association, inform and guide the student community in matters related to student activism, and promote student advocacy and student community spirit. There is no separate application for this course, which can be started after the start of the term of office.

5. Other student involvement

Students can work in teams, workshops or events at Lapland University of Applied Sciences as an experience expert. They can participate in the development of the UAS's operations and quality, as well as in evaluations of teaching and learning environment in the fields of study. In addition, they may participate in the organization of events for the student community and hold positions of trust in various institutions appointed by UAS.
