Objective

The aim of this course is to increase knowledge about digital transformation trends, and future game-changing technologies that enable innovative solutions for digitalization of organizations and digital business solutions for future needs. Student learns about novel technologies and their application in innovation and digital transformation, the value that novel technologies can create and the ethical and sustainability issues related to the use of the technologies. Student learns to assess the technologies and their impacts and evaluate their potential in solving practical problems and creating innovative solutions. Technologies to be addressed are chosen based on students' interests and technology trends, including e.g., robotics, IoT, automation, AI and big data analytics, cloud, mobile, AR/MR/VR, wearable technologies, crowdsourcing etc.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

0: The student did not submit the course assignments or these assignments did not meet the minimal quality requirements presented in the class.

1-2: The student has participated in the team project delivered or individual the assignments, which are prepared generally according to the defined requirements. The student understands mostly correctly the subject matter concepts relating to digital transformation, novel technologies for future development, and is able to search information and report and disseminate the findings clearly. However, there is a room for development in the content of the assignments. Knowledge of technologies and their potential and application are rather general and are not elaborated in details.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

3-4: The student has actively taken part in the team project or individual tasks and delivered the assignments, which are prepared according to the requirements presented in the class. The student understands very well the subject matter concepts and is able to search current information, including recent scientific publications. Student can apply the concepts and information and can disseminate and report clearly and correctly the the findings, and applications. The student also understands well the role of digital transformation, novel technologies for future development as well as assessments of technologies and enabled solutions, and value creation and impacts of technology-based solutions. Additionally, the student is able to give useful development recommendations utilizing his/her knowledge and skills on the subject.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

5: The student has actively taken part in the team project or individual tasks and delivered the course assignments and these are prepared according to the requirements presented in the class. The student understands deeply the subject matter concepts, is able to search and use most recent scientific and other information, and is able to apply and disseminate them correctly and clearly. The student also understands well and is able to analyse critically different factors in the planning and implementation of transformative technologies for future, including his/her own field or organization. Moreover, the student is able to give useful development recommendations with proper argumentation in different situations.
